HOLLYWOOD
- If
Miley Cyrus
’ recent TV ratings are any indication, she might want to make a permanent leap to the big screen.
According to the Nielsen Company, which tracks and reports TV viewership data,
Cyrus
’ Disney show
Hannah Montana
has been trending downward of late.
And those quick to point to the 15-year-old star’s recent
Vanity Fair
photo controversy as the culprit would be wrong.
Hannah Montana
’s ratings have been gradually dipping since the first new episode of the year, in January, a decline never more apparent than with Sunday’s show.
It was the first new
Montana
airing in two months, and yet ratings were down 12 percent; furthermore, Sunday’s episode marked a rather steep 26 percent tumble since the beginning of the year.
And even though there’s a new Disney teen queen in town by the name of
Selena Gomez
(whose show
Wizards of Waverly Place
is the network’s current gold standard), the
Cyrus
camp need not fret over mere TV ratings: The multi-hyphenate star has a new music album due in July, a new theatrical movie to be released next year and a
recently announced autobiography
, which will hit bookshelves next year.
