HOLLYWOOD
- Actress
Kristin Davis
has dismissed reports that the cast of
Sex and the City
snubbed New Yorkers by holding the film's world premiere in London, instead of in the Big Apple.
Studio bosses at New Line Cinema, which made the film, have come under fire for choosing to premiere the long-awaited project in the British capital--two weeks before it is unveiled in its spiritual home of New York on May 27.
Davis
hit the red carpet with her co-stars
Sarah Jessica Parker
,
Kim Cattrall
and
Cynthia Nixon
in London on Monday, and insisted the film's debut in the U.K. was not meant to offend their New York fans.
Davis
, who plays Charlotte York Goldenblatt in the film and TV series that preceded it, tells WENN, "It's great to be in New York. We're not excluding New York, there's enough of us to go around. (But) England has always been so supportive of us, and this is an incredible turnout; why not London? I love Britain."
And her co-star
Parker
admits the decision was ultimately out of their hands.
Parker
, who stars as sex columnist Carrie Bradshaw, adds, "This is where New Line decided to do it and we're thrilled to start here then take it home to New York."
Producers at New Line Cinema are planning to make it up to New York's
Sex and the City
fans by holding a spectacular party at the city's famous Radio City Music Hall immediately after the stateside premiere.
